new parents are looking for more support

Take a deeper dive the policies of today, and what parents want from employers when it comes to leave time, quality and pay

How long was your parental leave?
76% of respondents get 3 months or less of parental leave with most of this time being at least partly paid.

How much of your parental leave is paid?
Full pay and longer parental leave is becoming more common as more employers clearly see the benefits of retaining working parents.

What percentage of your usual pay do you receive during your paid leave?
Good news: it is no longer acceptable for employers not to offer paid parental leave. Almost half of our respondents said their leave was paid at 100% of their salary.

Does your employer offer you a gradual return to work after parental leave?
Unfortunately, most employers are still not offering gradual return to work programming after new parents get back from paternity leave. Many said that they were met with mountains of work that no one had touched for months, making an overwhelming time even more so.
While parental leave policies are improving, there’s still work to be done. Many studies have found that extending the length of leave can improve health outcomes and employee loyalty. Other studies have found that offering more support during leave and in RTW (like childcare classes, digital health tools, or mental health support) not only helps employees, but makes employers more profitable.
